More championship points for the Pfister Racing team at Eurospeedway Lausitz

Eurospeedway Lausitz. The Skoda Octavia Cup stopped at Eurospeedway Lausitz from July 13 to 14, 2018. There was even a steep bend for the racing drivers to cope with on the 4,265 km long racing track in the Octavia Cup. Following the action-packed season so far, the Pfister Racing team from Franconia set itself the goal on this race weekend of getting into the “Top 10” again to gain more championship points. At the same time, the racing driver Wolfgang Kriegl (AUT) made his debut at Eurospeedway on the race track that he was previously unknown to him.

Team leader Andreas Pfister commented as follows: “Having now got the technical aspect of the powerful 280 HP Octavia Cup racing car really well under control, we are delighted to be able to provide our driver Wolfgang Kriegl with a superbly prepared racing car. As the Eurospeedway is unchartered territory for our driver, we set ourselves the shared goal on this race weekend of getting the racing car over the finish line in one piece and collecting more points. The team and drivers are in a good mood and motivated and I can’t see any reason why we shouldn’t achieve this goal.”

Wolfgang Kriegl gained 10 championship points with 9th and 7th place in the Octavia Cup

The Skoda Octavia Cup presents many racers with a cost-effective alternative to the TCR series as Octavia Cup racing cars are only slightly different to TCR ones in terms of performance but almost 50% cheaper to bring to the circuit in terms of input costs.

With a highly professional ÖHLINS chassis and a DSG direct shift gearbox, the Octavia Cup racing car offers a whole load of driving fun!

A great learning experience with continuous improvement in the lap times

Wolfgang Kriegl had to therefore get used to the course and find his ideal line on the racing course in particular in the first open training sessions. The racing track’s challenging “in-field” is just as demanding as the high-speed steep bend before the start and finishing straight sections.

Kriegl managed to quickly adapt to the course and joined the middle field. He achieved 11th place in the time training to establish the positions on the starting grid and was therefore already within striking distance of the championship point places.

A fighting performance in both races

Wolfgang Kriegl drove furiously during the first 25-minute race, which had a rolling start. During the infighting with several competitors he managed to move forward in the ranking list to 9th place.

The second race then went even better: after a sideways skid in the first lap of the race, Kriegl had to make up some time again but achieved a great 7th place with a superb maneuver in the last lap of the race and crossed the finishing line with determination.

Eurospeedway Lausitz is one of the most superb racing tracks in Germany

“We are thrilled with another 10 championship points and are going into the second half of the season highly motivated. One particularly positive note is that Wolfgang Kriegl was able to drive the Top 5 lap times in the second race in particular, and our racing car can demonstrate a good chassis set-up. I would like to thank our team members Alois Pfister, Alfred Hutzel and Andreas Walter for the fantastic effort they put in during the race weekend.” said Andreas Pfister.
